Courtney John was born in the Parish of St. Andrew, Jamaica. He grew up in Annotto Bay, a hard-working town in St. Mary, Jamaica. Courtney John migrated to Canada with his family at twelve years of age. Born into a musical family, it was no surprise that by the tender age of twelve Courtney John wrote and performed his first song. He grew up listening to Uncles Winston and Beres Hammond, both who remain his greatest musical inspiration. Courtney John acknowledges being influenced by the singing styles of his favourite artists which includes Beres Hammond, Lionel Ritchie and Stevie Wonder. Since February, 1993 Courtney John has recorded tracks for some of Jamaica's biggest producers including: X-Terminator, FiWi Music, Fat Eyes, Zulu and Harmony House. Courtney John is presently recording on the FiWi Music label and his singles "Never Give Up" and "Brighter Days" have hit the Top 10 charts. Courtney John's current single "I Go Crazy" is presently riding the charts and breaking internationally. Courtney John has been busy performing all over North America with top reggae artists. We can expect to hear much more of this young balladeer's silky, smooth, vocal stylings. |
